The National Assembly explained that it prioritized the transmission of the State Police Service Bill to State Houses of Assembly due to widespread public demands and the need to address security and policing concerns. The Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, assured that other Constitution (Sixth Alteration) Bills will be transmitted upon passage in identical form by both chambers. The Senate had earlier considered and passed the State Police Establishment Bill, which was received from President Bola Tinubu.
