Speaker Jacob Marksons Oboth announced that Uganda's Parliament will reestablish the Institute of Parliamentary Studies with support from the German Legislature. The announcement came during a meeting with the new German Ambassador to Uganda, H.E. Sigrid Sommer, at Parliament Building on Tuesday, 22 September 2026. The institute, first established in 2012 to provide specialized training to legislators and staff, was closed in 2021 when its functions were transferred to the Corporate Planning and Strategy Department. According to Oboth, the revived institute will serve as a central engine for training, research, and capacity building.
