The Osun State House of Assembly passed a resolution on Tuesday supporting the creation of state police. The resolution followed the National Assembly's passage of a State Police Creation amendment bill on June 24, 2026, which was sent to state houses of assembly for consideration. During plenary, the Majority Leader, Mr Babajide Kofoworola, moved the motion for consideration, which was seconded by Mr Tajudeen Adeyemi. The Speaker, Adewale Egbedun, stated that the approved amendment should be forwarded to the National Assembly for final approval before being sent to the President for assent.
