New data from procurement software firm Zip shows that AI providers such as OpenAI, Anthropic, Cursor, and Sierra accounted for 8% of spending by Zip customers in the 12 months ending in August. This is up from 1.4% in the previous 12 months. Overall, software budgets for these customers rose by a median of 13% during that period. The study included dozens of customers with an average of 2,400 employees who spent $18 billion on software, including AI, over the past four years.
