The US Navy has tested a new system that translates human battle plans into instructions autonomous aircraft can understand and follow. According to an official, the system can reduce the burden on operators, improve interoperability and help bring collaborative autonomy closer to operational use. The technology is intended to make mission planning simpler by allowing operators to focus on objectives rather than converting plans into formats acceptable to specific aircraft. The Navy anticipates the system will make autonomous aircraft easier to incorporate into the fleet.
