Paramount Skydance and Warner Bros. Discovery employees are preparing for internal competition as the two companies merge in the coming weeks. Paramount settled lawsuits that had been slowing down its deal to acquire WBD, a transaction valued at $110 billion that gives CEO David Ellison control over media assets including HBO, CBS, CNN, TNT and MTV, as well as streamers Paramount+, HBO Max and Discovery+. A Paramount streaming manager said it will be quite competitive to see whose services and teams stick around, noting that WBD has engineers doing similar work. A longtime WBD staffer predicted an internal war of the tech stacks.
