Amanda Nimon-Peters, a leadership professor and author of Working With Influence, said people often resort to rational arguments when trying to persuade someone. She recommended thinking about what the other person cares about and framing the pitch around that, and writing down all the reasons an idea could help the person being asked before presenting it.
