The Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) has warned that the combined effects of climate change, environmental degradation, and insecurity could push the number of internally displaced people in the sub-region to nearly 32 million by 2050. The warning was issued at the Second 2026 Parliamentary Seminar of the ECOWAS Parliament in Accra, Ghana. The seminar focused on addressing the challenges of displacement in the region.
