SoMa Equity Partners, a $2 billion tech-focused hedge fund, is closing down, according to three people close to the firm. The San Francisco-based firm was run by Gil Simon, the former top investor at Apex Capital. The firm's assets have fallen in recent years after peaking at more than $4 billion. Simon wrote in a LinkedIn post that it was the "end of an era," expressing appreciation for his team, investors, partners, and friends. The reason for the closure is unclear.
