Chief Michael Aondoakaa, the Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Benue State, has pledged to establish specialised geriatric units in hospitals across the state if elected governor in 2027. The units would provide free basic healthcare and minor surgical procedures for elderly citizens. Aondoakaa, a former Attorney General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, said the initiative is part of a broader agenda covering healthcare, security, pensioners' welfare, infrastructure development, and prudent management of public resources. He made the promise in Makurdi, stating that government has a moral and constitutional responsibility to care for citizens who have contributed to the state's development.
