Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State, who is also the presidential candidate of the Allied Peoples Movement (APM), called for the removal of mining from the Exclusive Legislative List during a North-west stakeholders' meeting in Katsina. He argued that devolving mining responsibility to the states, with oversight only at the federal level, would lead to better outcomes. Makinde also insisted that elected chief executives must hand over to their deputies when proceeding on vacation. In a related development, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, Director-General of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, led a high-powered delegation across northern Nigeria to seek the support of influential clerics ahead of 2027.
