President Bola Tinubu and Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma have called on the Nigeria Police Force to remain professional and impartial ahead of the 2027 general elections. Inspector-General of Police Olatunji Disu warned officers against compromising their neutrality and urged politicians to compete with ideas rather than violence. The statements were made at the opening of the 2026 Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers in Owerri, Imo State. The three-day retreat, themed 'Developing a Nigeria Police Roadmap for Effective Management of Security during Elections,' brought together senior police officers and representatives of other security agencies.
