The Senator Sharafadeen Alli Campaign Organisation criticized Governor Seyi Makinde for attributing inadequate electricity supply to his administration's reliance on fuel-powered generators for streetlights. In a statement by Bisi Oladele, the campaign council described Makinde's excuse as disingenuous and indicative of incompetence and leadership failure. The group noted that President Bola Tinubu signed the Electricity Act 2023, empowering states to generate, transmit, and distribute electricity. It added that Oyo State established the Oyo State Electricity Regulatory Commission and completed the transfer of regulatory oversight from the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission.
