The United States Department of State announced on September 18, 2026, that it will expand online presence reviews for visa applicants. Starting October 1, 2026, applicants for I, TN, and TD visas must set their social media profiles to public or open. The I visa is for foreign media representatives, TN visas are for certain professionals from Canada and Mexico under the USMCA, and TD visas are for their dependents. This builds on existing screening for other visa categories, including diplomatic and official visas.
