Meta's AI agent, Muse, has become a hit app, shooting to the top of the App Store charts and overtaking ChatGPT as the top free app. CEO Mark Zuckerberg said on an April earnings call that the company was willing to tinker until it had an AI agent that was "more polished and dialed and easy" than the competition, something that would pass his "mother" test. Meta's edge in the AI battle is its vast experience in creating and cross-promoting consumer apps.
