The US Department of Justice has insisted that President Donald Trump can deny journalists from CNN, MS NOW, and Politico access to areas of the White House. The department made the argument in a court filing on Tuesday, ahead of a court hearing on Wednesday. The outlets went to court after Trump ordered them barred from the presidential mansion as punishment for distributing what he calls 'fake news.' The Justice Department stated that access to the White House is a privilege, not a right, and that Trump can control reporters' access to restricted presidential areas.
