The Nigerian Embassy in Doha has started producing and returning passports to applicants within about two weeks of biometric capture, potentially reducing waiting periods for Nigerians in Qatar. This was achieved during a passport intervention exercise held from August 11 to 21, 2026, which attracted 751 Nigerians. Of the applicants, 441 applied for five-year passports, while 310 opted for the 10-year validity period. Distribution of the newly produced passports began on September 18, less than a month after the exercise. Nigeria's Ambassador to Qatar, Prof. Mahmood Yakubu, said the completion and return of passports within about two weeks of biometric capture demonstrated the embassy's commitment to improving service delivery.
