The 11th sports competitions of the Western Command of the Eritrean Defense Forces commenced on 19 September in Barentu. Lt. Daniel Yosief, Promotion and Information Officer, stated that the program aims to identify youth potential and nurture competent young people for the country's benefit. The competitions, running for over two months, will feature 19 teams from both genders in football, volleyball, basketball, athletics, target shooting, cycling, and other sports. The opening event was attended by regional and military officials, and the sports week will continue until 28 October 2026.
