Ghana's Deputy Minister for the Interior, Hon. Ebenezer Okletey Terlabi, has called for a broader and more integrated approach to mining security in West Africa. Speaking at the sixth West Africa Mining Security Conference in Accra, he emphasized that protecting the mineral economy requires coordination among government institutions, security agencies, mining companies, financial institutions, border authorities, and host communities. Terlabi noted that mining security should be viewed as part of the wider national and regional security architecture, and that partnerships should adapt successful approaches to local realities. West Africa's mineral wealth, including gold, bauxite, manganese, lithium, and iron ore, holds significant potential for the region.
