The Horowitz Andreessen Academy, a new $42 million for-profit school backed by venture-capital firm Andreessen Horowitz, is set to offer an alternative to traditional college. Its first 50 students will study tuition-free in San Francisco starting fall 2027, with courses and placements at tech companies but no accredited degree programs. The academy has recruited prominent tech figures from companies like OpenAI, Nvidia, Microsoft, Meta, and Stripe as instructors, guest speakers, and mentors.
