Lesotho has become the first country to implement the United Nations master plan for Artificial Intelligence, according to Prime Minister Samuel Ntsokoane Matekane. He announced this at the second UN Digital Cooperation Day in New York, held alongside the 81st UN General Assembly. Matekane said Lesotho assessed its AI readiness before testing the UN Blueprint, which proved useful and moved the country to the implementation stage. The Ministry of Information, Communications, Science, Technology and Innovation has been assessing needs including computing capacity, data centres, internet connectivity, skills, and financing for over a year.
