The National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) has denied claims of a security breach involving Nigerians' National Identity Number (NIN) and other personal information. In a statement by the Head of Corporate Communications, Mr Kayode Adegoke, the commission described the claims, which were contained in a video circulating on social media, as misleading. Adegoke assured Nigerians that their data remains safe and secure, and that there is no need for panic. He added that measures have been put in place to protect the NIN and other personal information contained in the National Identity Database.
