In a camp for displaced people in South Sudan, a task force supported by UNMISS has implemented a strategy to combat drug abuse and gang violence among youth. The Unity State Government's Task Force on Combating Drug Abuse and Gang Violence, comprising law enforcement, health, community, and UNMISS representatives, adopted a multipronged approach. This includes the first-ever deployment of a court inside the camp, in coordination with the Community High Committee, to address drug use, gang violence, and sexual and gender-based violence. The initiative responds to community requests for stronger justice and rule of law mechanisms.
