Uganda: Public Accounts Committee (PAC-Central Government) demands answers over delay in constitution of Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) Adjudication Committee

The Public Accounts Committee (PAC-Central Government) has raised concerns over the Ministry of Internal Affairs' failure to constitute the NGO Adjudication Committee since the 2024 rationalisation of the NGO Bureau. The committee is mandated to hear complaints and appeals from NGOs, including registration refusals and permit disputes. Committee Chairperson Hon. Patrick Oshabe stated that the delay has led to complaints and a petition alleging that the absence of the committee is being used to restrict NGO operations. The PAC is demanding answers for the prolonged delay.
