Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed that he considered retiring from international football after the 2026 World Cup but chose to continue because he believes he can still contribute to Portugal's success and aims to reach 1,000 career goals. The 41-year-old made the comments ahead of Portugal's Nations League match against Wales in Lisbon. Ronaldo, who had previously stated the 2026 World Cup would be his last, has been included in Jorge Jesus' 25-man squad and needs 21 more goals to reach the milestone.
