The Central Bank of Nigeria, at the end of its rate-setting meeting on Tuesday, reduced the benchmark rate to 23 per cent from 26.5 per cent. CBN Governor Olayemi Cardoso described the move as an operational reset to improve the effectiveness of monetary policy and aid the shift to an inflation-targeting framework. Analysts said the rate cut is positive for markets.
