The Kwara State Police Command has denied reports that its personnel shot a motorcyclist during an incident at Oyun bridge in Ilorin. In a statement, spokesperson Toun Ejire-Adeyemi said no one was shot, explaining that the confrontation occurred during routine patrol and stop-and-search duties. She said a 23-year-old motorcyclist, Abdurasaq Lukman, was riding at top speed when he knocked down Corporal Saka Azeez, causing serious head injuries and a fracture to the officer. Both the officer and the motorcyclist were taken to a medical facility for treatment.
