Former Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has embraced Islam after reciting the Shahadah in Doha, Qatar, where he plays for Al-Ahli. The conversion was reported by Qatari newspaper Al-Arab and a video of the recitation has circulated on social media. Muslim scholar Dr Muhammad Salah shared the footage, and international outlets including Morocco's Elbotola and Egypt's Youm7 have also reported the development. Troost-Ekong, 33, joined Al-Ahli in January 2026 on a one-and-a-half-year contract.
