Mauritius' Minister of Foreign Affairs, Regional Integration and International Trade, Dhananjay Ramful, stated in New York that autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty is the most credible solution to the regional dispute over the Moroccan Sahara. He made the remarks during talks with Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Bourita on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly. Ramful said Mauritius had recently reviewed its position during a Cabinet meeting following the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2797. Mauritius now considers the resolution pragmatic and autonomy under Moroccan sovereignty as the most realistic, fair, and sustainable solution.
