Four nations back permanent African seat on UN Security Council

Four nations, Brazil, Germany, India and Japan, have backed a permanent African seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC). The countries, under the Group of Four (G4), made their position known in a joint statement issued after their foreign ministers met. They called for urgent reform of the Council to reflect contemporary geopolitical realities.
