The Independent Committee of Inquiry into the reported deaths of 37 people in the custody of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has commenced its investigation. The committee, inaugurated by the Minister of Interior, Dr. Olubunmi Ojo, held its inaugural meeting and adopted a work plan. It plans to visit all relevant sites, engage with government agencies, interview survivors and suspects, and obtain necessary documents. The committee's medical team has also begun work to determine the cause of the deaths.
