Stakeholders in agriculture and finance have called for Nigeria to shift from exporting raw agricultural commodities to processing and value addition. They spoke during a panel session at the 2026 FirstBank Agric & Export Expo in Lagos. The panel was themed 'Building Competitive Export Value Chains: Investments and Partnerships for Nigeria's Agricultural Transformation.' Vishwajit Sinha, CEO of Greenview Fertilizer Corporation, noted that exporting raw materials exports jobs, while importing finished products imports poverty, and highlighted the global chocolate and cocoa products market worth about $150 billion.
