The Health of Mother Earth Foundation (HOMEF), an environmental rights organisation, has called for urgent measures to protect communities living around petroleum infrastructure following reports of deaths at Okari Jetty Creeks in Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State. Initial reports indicated that as many as 37 people were feared dead after allegedly inhaling fumes. HOMEF is seeking immediate action to safeguard the affected communities.
