The Bauchi State Government has flagged off the payment of backlog of gratuity arrears to over 1,000 retired civil servants in the state. Governor Bala Abdukadir Mohammed, represented by Deputy Governor Auwal Jatau, directed the commencement of payment of outstanding gratuity to retirees from 2012 to 2016, starting with the first batch of beneficiaries. The state government has committed N10 billion towards addressing the accumulated gratuity obligations owed to retirees. The governor said the government is determined to address the long-standing plight of pensioners who have waited for years to receive their entitlements.
