Borno: Bama Returnees Seek Access to Toilet Facilities to Prevent Disease Outbreak

Families of Banki town who were being resettled from Minawao camp in Cameroon have called on the Borno State Government to provide adequate toilet facilities to prevent open defecation and potential disease outbreaks. The call was made during the resettlement exercise held in Bama Local Government Area, led by the Chairman of the Bama Reconstruction Committee, Lawan Wakilbe. One of the returnees, Saleh Usman, thanked the state government for providing free accommodation and running water but noted that inadequate toilet facilities may force children into open defecation, which could cause an epidemic. The returnees are seeking urgent intervention to address the sanitation concerns.
