The Osun State government has debunked rumours that the chief of staff, Alhaji Kazeem Akinleye, and other top government officials were working to prevent the police from investigating the alleged self-kidnapping saga involving one of the governor’s media aides, Shakirulahi Babatunde. Babatunde allegedly faked his kidnap in a text message and is currently under investigation. A statement by the spokesperson to the state governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed, said the government reported the case to the police and that the police are investigating without any pressure from the state government.
