No End In Sight To NDC, OK Movement Rift Over Campaign Structure

The rift between the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the Obi-Kwankwaso Movement (OK Movement) over campaign structures for the 2027 general elections has deepened. The dispute centers on the OK Movement's decision to establish a 59-member Presidential Campaign Council, which NDC national leader Senator Seriake Dickson described as nonsensical. Speaking in Abuja on Tuesday while receiving former Secretary to the Government of the Federation Babachir Lawal into the NDC, Dickson insisted that support groups exist to complement, not compete with, a political party. He emphasized that support groups do not compete for supremacy or space, do not play the role of a political party, and do not sponsor candidates, but rather provide grassroots support and mobilization.
