The United States Government and the Government of Mozambique Launch the “Nourish to Learn” Project to Benefit Approximately 170,000 Children in Maputo Province

The United States Government and the Government of Mozambique launched the "Nourish to Learn" project on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, at Cuanine Primary School in Manhiça District, Maputo Province. The project will provide meals to serve 75 million school meals in 245 primary schools in Maputo Province, benefitting more than 80,000 children per year. Funded by a US$40 million contribution from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), the six-year initiative (October 2025 through September 2031) will be implemented by Save the Children in close coordination with the National School Feeding Program (PRONAE) and provincial and district departments. The project aims to increase enrollment, attendance, and learning outcomes among public school students in the districts of Magude, Manhiça, Moamba, and Matutuíne.
