An adviser to Iran's supreme leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, warned that Tehran may expand the Middle East war to the Indian Ocean if the United States attacks again. Yahya Rahim Safavi said in a video released by Iran's Fars news agency that since the conflict has spread from the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz to the Red Sea, the front could expand further to the Indian Ocean and perhaps beyond. Yemen's Houthis recently took control of the Red Sea coastline, tightening their grip on the Bab al-Mandab Strait. Iran has locked down the Strait of Hormuz in retaliation for US-Israeli strikes that triggered the Middle East war at the end of February.
