Petrol imports rise 4.6% as local supply recovers

Nigeria's petrol imports rose to 20.6 million litres per day in August 2026, according to data from the Nigerian Midstream and Downstream Petroleum Regulatory Authority. The August figures showed a 4.6 per cent increase in petrol imports from 19.7 million litres per day in July. Domestic refinery supply also rose by 15.1 per cent to 29.7 million litres per day from 25.8 million litres per day in July.
