Women's organizations in the Democratic Republic of the Congo launched the League of Feminists of the DRC in Kinshasa on Wednesday, September 23, aiming to advance the fight for equality between men and women. The launch was supported by the Strategic Communication and Public Information Division and the Gender Section of MONUSCO. Nearly one hundred participants, including representatives from civil society, UN agencies, and academia, attended the event, which organizers described as a major milestone for the feminist movement in the DRC. Grâce Shako, Representative of the League of Feminists of the DRC, acknowledged that the feminist struggle in Congo predates the new platform but emphasized that the initiative seeks to unite actors already committed to equal rights.
