Nigeria and the United States have agreed to deepen American investment in Nigeria's mining sector. The accord was signed by Nigeria's minister for solid minerals, Dele Alake, and US deputy secretary of state, Christopher Landau, in New York on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. The framework targets Nigeria's $700 billion mineral resources and aims to go beyond the export of raw materials. The agreement comes as US President Donald Trump has prioritized investment deals in Africa, where Chinese firms have deeper roots.
