Professor Oluwatoyin Ogundipe, Chairman of the Board of the National Universities Commission (NUC) and former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Lagos, has stated that conflicting regulatory demands by the NUC and professional regulatory bodies are imposing huge and avoidable costs on Nigerian universities and students. He made this known on Thursday while delivering the 16th convocation lecture of a university. Ogundipe highlighted the financial burden placed on institutions and students due to the overlapping regulatory requirements.
