States, FCT IGR rises 41% to N5.15tn

Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of Nigeria's 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) rose by 40.93 per cent year-on-year to N5.15 trillion in 2025 from N3.65 trillion in 2024. The National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) disclosed this in its 2025 Internally Generated Revenue report released on Thursday. Lagos recorded the highest IGR at N1.77 trillion, followed by Rivers with N428.42 billion and Enugu with N406.77 billion. Yobe recorded the lowest IGR at N16.01 billion, followed by Ebonyi with N17.18 billion and Sokoto with N20.48 billion. The NBS said state and FCT IGR comprised two broad categories: tax revenue and revenue generated by Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).
