The reopening of the 1st Niger Bridge has been delayed to allow for additional structural repairs and safety checks. Minister of Works, David Umahi, ordered the checks during an inspection of the ongoing repairs. The emergency rehabilitation, initially scheduled for completion on September 21, will not be finished until major structural works are completed. Umahi apologized for the inconvenience and commended the governors of Delta and Anambra states for their support.
