The President of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN), Archbishop Daniel Okoh, has called on Christian and Muslim leaders to move beyond interfaith dialogue and take practical action to address Nigeria's challenges. Speaking at a meeting of the Nigeria Inter-Religious Council (NIREC) in Abuja with the theme 'Shared Sacred Flourishing in Nigeria', he said the theme should inspire collective efforts to tackle insecurity, poverty, unemployment, and other issues. He emphasized that cooperation should be based on shared values such as love, compassion, mercy, justice, forgiveness, and service to humanity, without requiring Christians and Muslims to compromise their distinct beliefs.
