Mars and Walmart are using artificial intelligence to plan their Halloween candy and costume supplies earlier in the year. Mars uses AI to predict consumer demand and plan candy production and distribution, while Walmart's AI forecasts demand and helps plan inventory unloading and store stocking. According to Ramesh Kollepara, SVP and global chief technology officer of Mars' snacking division, consumers are leaning into "Summerween" by buying trick-or-treat candy in July. This shift means companies must think beyond the traditional Halloween selling window and understand when demand will begin and where it will be.
