Experts in orthopaedic and trauma care have called for a coordinated, multidisciplinary approach to treating patients with traumatic and musculoskeletal injuries in Nigeria. They warned that successful surgery alone does not guarantee recovery or restoration of normal life. The experts spoke at the 47th Annual Scientific Conference of the National Orthopaedic Hospital, Igbobi, Lagos, with the theme 'Multidisciplinary Team Care in the Management of Musculoskeletal Diseases' and sub-theme 'Burn Injuries'. They emphasized that effective trauma care requires collaboration among surgeons, nurses, anaesthetists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, nutritionists, psychologists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals from diagnosis through rehabilitation and reintegration into society.
