Aviation stakeholders, including foreign airlines operating in Nigeria, have identified the country as the most competitive international travel market in Africa. The assessment is supported by progressively increasing passenger throughput year-on-year and the multi-designation of international carriers serving Nigeria. In 2025, total inbound and outbound international passengers from Nigeria reached about 4.85 million, a 12.01 per cent increase from the 4.33 million recorded in 2024. Twenty foreign airlines operate approximately 200 weekly flights from Nigeria through the major gateways of Lagos, Abuja, Kano and Port Harcourt airports.
