A Federal High Court in Lagos has convicted a trader, Elijah Chigbogu, and two companies, Prolife & Well Pharmaceutical Limited and God of Elijah Nigeria Limited, for possession, display for sale, importation, and distribution of fake and unregistered drugs. Justice Musa Kakaki convicted the defendants after they pleaded guilty to a four-count charge brought by the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC). The court adopted a plea bargain agreement and sentenced Chigbogu to a fine of N1.5 million. The case underscores ongoing efforts to combat counterfeit drugs in Nigeria.
